Buoyant is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving New York City’s maritime heritage through public access, education, workforce development, preservation, and long-term stewardship, both by directly restoring historic vessels and by supporting the broader maritime infrastructure and systems that sustain lasting community benefit.

At the heart of our long-term vision is the restoration of Shearwater, a 1929 schooner on the National Register of Historic Places and a living piece of New York Harbor history.
