Community Access Ticket Program
Through its partnership with Manhattan By Sail, Buoyant is able to help direct a portion of eligible Clipper City tickets each year toward community access, educational use, and mission-aligned participation through donated or deeply reduced seats.
These tickets are intended to open the harbor to people who might not otherwise have the opportunity to step aboard. That includes underserved communities, students, youth groups, schools, educators, nonprofit partners, families, and Buoyant supporters who are helping build a stronger future for preservation and public access in New York Harbor.
The program is also an important bridge in Buoyant’s broader model. While Shearwater is under restoration, access to Clipper City makes it possible to begin community and educational work immediately rather than waiting years for that next chapter to begin. To us, this is the core of why we exist. We’re getting people out on the water today because we know that real experiences are the only way to build the support these ships need to survive tomorrow.
Depending on the sailing calendar and operational realities of the season, up to 20% of eligible Clipper City public sail tickets may be made available through this program. Some of those seats may be donated outright, while others may be offered at a deep discount. Certain premium or peak dates, such as July 4th or specialty sailings, may be excluded.
At its core, the idea is straightforward: if the harbor is part of the city’s shared inheritance, access to it should be broader, more intentional, and more equitable. This program is one way to make that principle real.
