The week builds from orientation and confidence into real maritime language, crew roles,

Day 1
Welcome Aboard
A first day focused on comfort, confidence, and getting to know the ship, with an introduction to life on board, basic safety, and the language of sailing.
Explore

- Intro to onboard safety in a way that feels engaging, confident, and age-appropriate
- Learn a first knot: the square knot
- Kick off the week with a shipwide scavenger hunt
Day 2
Lines + Knots
Campers begin learning practical seamanship through knot tying, line handling, and active challenges that build coordination, focus, and teamwork.

- Learn two classic sailor knots: the bowline and cleat hitch
- Discover how lines are used aboard a working ship
- Put new skills into action through a knot relay race
- Take on a fun teamwork challenge together
Day 3
Wind + Sails
The mechanics of sailing come to life as campers explore how wind moves the boat and take part in age appropriate, hands-on sail activities.
Explore
- Explore how wind powers a sailboat and learn the basics of how sails work
- Get introduced to the points of sail in a simple, hands-on way
- Help raise or trim sails with guidance from the crew
- Join an on-deck game that brings sailing concepts to life through movement and play
Day 4
Navigation + Harbor Life
The harbor becomes the classroom through navigation basics, landmark spotting, and stories that connect New York's waterfront to history, work, and daily life.
Explore
- Learn the basics of navigation, including compass skills and harbor awareness
- Spot iconic New York Harbor landmarks from the water
- Get a first look at chart reading
- Hear stories of the harbor's past, from trade and travel to the people who shaped it
Day 5
Crew Challenge Day
The week comes together through team based games, crew roles, and a final celebration of the skills, confidence, and camaraderie built on board.
