Buoyant USA was founded out of a deep love of sailing, a commitment to New York Harbor, and a belief that historic vessels should remain active, accessible, and connected to community life. Its leadership brings together experience in maritime operations, strategy, fundraising, and public programming, with a shared focus on preservation, education, and access.

Buoyant is an independent nonprofit with its own mission, governance, and operations. We work in partnership with Manhattan By Sail and can use Clipper City for programming while Shearwater is under restoration, allowing community and educational work to begin now while building toward her return.
